One subscribed almost 100 times can open way up. Both happened this year.

Amagi’s issue was subscribed 30.24 times and still opened 11.9% below its issue price on the NSE. Shiprocket was subscribed 99.38 times and opened 35.1% above. Same market, same year, very different first days.

So what do the 2026 listings actually tell us about valuation? Here’s what stood out, and what founders can take from it before they price an issue.

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

1. Subscription Shows Demand, Not Fair Value

Subscription tells you how many people wanted shares at the offer price. That’s all it tells you. The listing price comes from trading once the shares are out in the open market, and that is a separate thing.

Fractal Analytics was subscribed just 2.66 times and opened only 2.7% below issue. Amagi, at 30 times, did worse than that. If subscription were a verdict on valuation, those two would have gone the other way.

What this means:

A big subscription number is a good sign of demand

It doesn’t settle whether the issue price was right

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

2. In 2025 that figure was 9.3%. Sounds great.

Then you look at individual names. ESDS Software Solution opened at a 76.5% premium. Amagi, Shadowfax, Turtlemint and AceVector, among others, opened below their issue prices. An average smooths all of that out.

Coverage this year also kept coming back to investor caution around cash burn, profitability and governance. That helps explain the mood, but no single factor explains why one company listed up and another listed down.

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][vc_single_image image=”3942″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_shadow_border”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

3. It opened 11.3% below issue anyway.

Earnings matter. So do the offer price, the sector, what investors expected and how the market felt that week.
